A Third Way?
The Evangelical Outpost linked to a interesting article on the proper interpretation of the beginning of Genesis. I offer it to stimulate your own thoughts and thus without comment.
Posted by Kevin Murphy at August 23, 2005 12:43 PM | FaithFor my Anglican church I have given a presentation on theistic evolution. I describe four interpretations of Genesis 1-3 that I believe are compatible with the Biblical text and with science:
1. Appearance of Age
2. Day-Age
3. Framework
4. Days of Proclamation
All four of these interpretations have problems, but the problems are not nearly as big as the huge difficulties that arise from insisting that the earth appears to be only 6,000 years old. More information can be found at my web site:

As Roy Clouser mentions in "Genesis on the Origin of the Human Race", the book of Genesis was given for spiritual reasons, to tell us where we are in Creation and how very special we are to God. It's a faith account; the scientific details are present but incidental.
