You want to take about a huge gulf between rich and poor? You're looking at it. There, between the wall of the rich man's house and the street, are the homes of several families. Every such compound was surrounded by poor people. And these were good accomidations - squatters further out didn't have the wall and the road, just other squatters. You can't see it in the picture, but the walls were invariably topped with broken glass set in cement.
