This picture shows the little park and the church across the street from the Consulate. I don't remember if it was in use any more, but my maid at the hotel was Catholic (and barefoot -- odd the things you remember). We were surprised by the church, although we shouldn't have been since you can tell by the quality of the construction it was built by the Brits. We used to walk through the park to get to the American Club, which was run by a very nice Turk. We used to watch Monday Night Football Tuesday mornings there on AFRTS while eating breakfast and drinking bloody mary's and screwdrivers. Those were the days.
